Eigen Energy was featured in a Channel News Asia report examining the evolving EV charging industry in Singapore and the possibility of greater market consolidation.
The article explored the challenges facing charging point operators as EV adoption grows: high upfront investment, grid constraints, site availability and the need to deploy chargers at a pace that matches real demand. It also considered how consolidation, partnerships and greater operational scale could shape the next phase of the market.
Eigen Energy’s Demi Tung, Business Development Specialist for Mobility, shared the company’s view on disciplined deployment. She noted that installing too many chargers ahead of demand can create maintenance and software costs for underused assets, while deploying too few can lead to a poor charging experience and driver frustration.
For well-utilised sites, Demi explained that cost recovery typically takes about four years, while lower-utilisation locations naturally require a longer timeline, reinforcing the importance of careful site selection and deployment planning.
